Q: Received a notice of DL suspension for violation 375-2A1 NO/INADEQUATE LIGHTS
I received a ticket for violation 375-2A1 NO/INADEQUATE LIGHTS in NY, Nassau County in June 2022. The officer told me if I fix the light within 24 hrs no fine payment is required and ticket will be closed. I fixed the light and went to a police station to confirm it is fixed and sing the paperwork. I mailed this paperwork as it was directed in the ticket and plead guilty (mistake?). I did not receive any other mail regarding this ticket for a year. Recently I received a notice saying that my DL was suspended for not appearing to the court. I was not aware I have to. Nassau County Traffic Agency website shows $0 balance. I could pay if required, but appearing to the court is problematic as I moved to another state last summer. Is it possible to close this ticket without appearing to the court to avoid travel expenses of ~$600? I don't need the NY DL anymore, but need this problem fixed within few days.
A: It should be an easy fix. Contact an attorney for a consultation in regard to how to clear this matter without having to appear.
A: Your license was not suspended for the violation, but for failing to appear at the traffic agency. When you sent in your plea a date was likely given. You needed to appear at that date and resolve the violation. You can retain an attorney to appear for you and get the case restored and resolved.
