Q: In Michigan, any funding for legal help from Dept. of Health & Human Services for parents in custody battle w abusive ex
Ex was abusive in marriage. Had an affair and theyre now married. She is controlling and he as well and are keeping the kids from me. Will not allow phone calls or anything. Have now refused to allow parenting time visits. Tell kids to keep sports activity info from me. To point of me not knowing they were playing. Keeps health info. Had me removed for no reason from hospital when our 7 yr old had open heart surgery. Has mad it financially impossible for me to obtain lawyer. I've lost my house, car, and children bc of false legal allegations and I can't seem to get out of the hole. He's now trying again which with him having a lawyer it seems I cannot say or do right as it's always twisted around to look as they want. The court clerk has "fixed" an error (wasn't an error it was objection to referee recommendation and request for de novo) with a STICKY NOTE in legal chart. Stating it was error and supposed to be obj to recommendation for support. No new forms or notification to me given
A: There is no state funding or a right to an attorney in family law matters like in criminal law. However, you may contact your county's legal aid office to see if you qualify for legal assistance.
