Venus, TX asked in Criminal Law for Texas

Q: My husband was accused of failure to register but he did who do I give my evidence to

I've tried talking to his parole officer but she has been lying to me from the beginning stating my land lord had called the Detective and said that we had moved out before the date that we had to. he wrote a letter stating that and saying that he was very cooperative and gave us till the 1st to be out. which we were. he had put in an address 2 weeks prior to that date but no response so he asked about it again. I have all the text messages between him and his parole officer. she finally called and said it wasn't approved so I don't have that text msg but there should be a recorded call right? He tried contacting the detective that is over that department but he was out of the office due to the fact he doesn't work on Fridays and it was a Holiday on Monday but from what the messages say he had already filed the charge before the 7th day which would be on the 5th day.

A: Registration is a painful and cumbersome process. From now on, send all correspondence and registration documents and Notices by Certified Mail via US Postal service. That will remove anyone's B.S. or memory problems. Even better, it will be saved in cyberspace Forever.

If the Detective is In-Charge of the local registration, you need to send him/her any registration proof the same way, U.S. Postal service, Certified mail.

The same with the Parole Officer, send all proof of address, etc., via US Postal Service Certified Mail. (No need for return receipt.)

If they press you further, hire an aggressive lawyer, like myself, to put everyone in CHECK! But remember, you have an obligation to register and report. Do not fail or be late as you will only hurt yourself.

I hope this helps.

A: If he has been arrested give it to his defense lawyer asap.
