A: A place to start would be to search the court records for her name. If you find the case this will lead to the information to find the funds.

A: Until you're able to speak with a Georgia attorney as to state-specific guidance, a starting point could be court records, as my colleague correctly indicates. In just about every state, minors who are plaintiffs in an accident go through a court process where their funds are placed under the guardianship of an adult until they turn 18 through an infant compromise order (or similarly named process, depending on the state). If you can't find anything online, clerks at the courthouse where your granddaughter resided might be able to provide guidance as to court records related to the infant comp hearings. Once you find those, they should identify the attorney, who should be able to guide you from there. Good luck
