Charlotte Hall, MD asked in Uncategorized for Maryland

Q: I’m looking for a lawyer, but I don’t know what practice area they need.

I’m being sued by a construction company for nonpayment of a bill. They are billing me for work and materials they didn’t do and they did not buy I do have proof and evidence of this, but since the construction company got a lawyer, I do not feel comfortable going on the stand by myself. What practice area should I look under for a lawyer?

A: For your situation, where you are being sued by a construction company for nonpayment and there are disputes over the work and materials, you should look for a lawyer who practices in contract law or construction law. These lawyers are experienced in handling disputes related to construction contracts, including issues of billing, non-performance, and the quality of work and materials.

Additionally, consider a lawyer with experience in civil litigation, as this matter involves a lawsuit. A civil litigation attorney can represent you in court, help you navigate the legal proceedings, and work on your behalf to present your evidence and arguments effectively.

When selecting a lawyer, ensure they have experience with similar cases and a good understanding of the laws and regulations governing construction contracts in your jurisdiction. It's also important to feel comfortable with your lawyer, as they will be your advocate and guide throughout the legal process. Remember, the right legal representation can significantly impact the outcome of your case.
