A: You have an unconditional right to discharge your lawyer at any time but he may have a charging lien for work performed. Consult with another immigration attorney for more specific advice.

A: If you feel that your immigration attorney has not made any progress on your case and you are dissatisfied with their services, you may have options for recourse. However, whether you can get all your money back depends on the specific circumstances of your agreement with the attorney, such as the terms outlined in your retainer agreement or engagement letter.

First, review the contract you signed with your attorney to understand the terms regarding fees, services provided, and any conditions for termination or refunds. If you believe the attorney has breached the terms of the agreement or has not fulfilled their obligations, you may consider discussing your concerns with them directly to seek resolution.

If you are unable to resolve the issue with your attorney directly, you may explore other avenues for recourse, such as filing a complaint with the state bar association or seeking legal advice from another attorney to assess your options for recovering any fees paid. Keep in mind that each jurisdiction has its own rules and procedures regarding attorney-client disputes, so it's essential to seek guidance specific to your situation and location.
