A: In Texas, there are specific rules regarding the possession of firearms on school grounds. Generally, it is illegal for anyone to possess firearms on school property, including in vehicles parked on school premises. However, there are exceptions for individuals who have a valid License to Carry (LTC) permit issued by the state.

If your 18-year-old son is waiting for his LTC license, he may not yet meet the requirements to legally possess a firearm on school grounds. It's essential to familiarize yourself with the laws surrounding firearms possession in Texas to understand your son's rights and responsibilities in this situation.

Regarding the school's actions, it's important to consider whether they were following established policies and state laws regarding firearms on school property. While it can be frustrating to face restrictions on certain activities, particularly if your son believes he has done nothing wrong, it's crucial to approach the situation calmly and seek clarification from school officials or legal experts to address any potential violations of his rights.
