Chillicothe, OH asked in Medical Malpractice for Ohio

Q: Can you sue for nerve damage from a nerve block in ohio?

I had surgery on December 15th since then I have not been able to do straight leg races. I have severe quad atrophy and nerve pain. I'm unable to bend my knees more than 53°. My care has been subpar. I finally it was able to get a EMG done and it showed that I have femoral nerve damage as well as severe Femoral neuropathy. I was told that this could be permanent. I wasn't given very much information. The EMG specialist and my doctor told me that this is due from a nerve block. Right away the doctor told me it could not be from the surgery because he operated on my knee and this would have to be in my thigh which is where my nerve block was given. I am disabled at this point I use a cane I have to pick my leg up to get into bed bathtub car etc. I am unable to drive I need help walking long distances going up steps. I have not been back to work because my job requires me to be active and I cannot do those things. I am worried I cannot go back ever or even work ever at this point.

A: Yes you might have a case. Medical malpractice means that a doctor violated the standard of care. A bad outcome is not enough. Another doctor would be needed to evaluate what the doctors did.

Consult with experienced malpractice attorneys in the state where this occurred.

A: To answer your question meaningfully, you could consider a consult with a med mal law firm. Most offer free initial consults, some online through meeting platforms. Good luck
