A: If you have paid for a vehicle but the dealership cannot provide the title, your rights to rescind the deal may depend on the terms of the purchase agreement and the laws of your state. Generally, a dealer must provide a clear title at the time of sale or within a reasonable period. If they fail to do so, this can be considered a breach of contract.

You should review the terms of your purchase agreement for any clauses related to title transfer and the timeframe for this process. It's important to communicate with the dealership in writing, expressing your concerns and requesting a clear timeline for when the title will be available. Keep records of all communications for future reference.

If the dealership fails to resolve the issue within a reasonable period, you may consider contacting your state's consumer protection agency or a legal advisor for guidance on rescinding the deal. You might also explore filing a complaint or seeking mediation as alternatives to resolve the situation. Remember, each case is unique, so the appropriate course of action will depend on your specific circumstances and local laws.
