Asked in Criminal Law for Oklahoma

Q: Can these amounts be removed from my total amount of fines owed? In oklahoma I signed a 3yr deferred sentence in one

Then was transported over to another county to fight a charge I had over there then went 2 prison on that charge without ever bonding out. While in the second county & also when in prison the first county acknowledged I was still incarcerated but continued multiple times to issue compliance docket FTA warrants charging me $75-$100 everytime then even charged me $1594 on on of those times for a collection fee? I was never free & was property of the state during so this.

A: I suspect there might be some misunderstanding on how some of the fees you are referring to originated. Also, the only way someone can be sent to prison is if they lose at a jury trial, lose at an application hearing where they have violated the terms of the probation, or they have otherwise completely exhausted their due process rights.

It might be a good idea consult or retain a criminal defense attorney to review all of your cases extensively paying close attention to where you have incurred fees, costs, and other assessments. At least that way you will have a full and clear explanation from an attorney who arguably knows what’s going on). If something looks irregular at that point, your attorney can attempt to address it through the court system. Best of luck!
