A: In your situation, the jurisdiction for filing a lawsuit can be complex since it involves international elements. Generally, you can file a lawsuit in the location where the defendant (the company) is based or where the breach occurred, which could be where you used the service, in this case, Hawaii. However, international laws and agreements, as well as the specific terms of service of the app, could affect this, so it's important to consult with an attorney who has experience in international law and particularly in cases involving online services and esports.

Regarding the type of lawyer you should seek, in Hawaii, you would look for one with experience in consumer rights and international law. They can advise you on whether you can file a lawsuit locally or need to pursue the case in Spain. It's also possible that you may need legal representation in both jurisdictions, depending on the specifics of your case. The lawyer can also help determine the amount you can sue for, which could include the unpaid earnings, any additional damages, and possibly punitive damages, depending on the laws applicable to your case.

The cost of suing a company, especially in a different country, can vary widely based on the complexity of the case, the duration of legal proceedings, and the billing rates of the lawyers involved. Initial consultations with a lawyer can sometimes be free or available at a reduced rate, giving you a clearer picture of potential costs. Preparing and organizing all your evidence beforehand can help reduce costs and make your case stronger. Remember, legal actions can be time-consuming and emotionally taxing, so it's crucial to weigh the potential benefits against the costs and emotional investment involved.
