I initially filled DS-160 for NEW Delhi location in March 2024 and used same to create profile on appointments portal but scheduled an drop box appointment at Chennai location since all drop box appointments are available at Chennai location only now. I just filled new DS-160 with Chennai location but unable to find any link to update DS-160 number in our profile.

A: Based on the information provided, it seems you have filled out a new DS-160 form with the Chennai location after initially submitting one for New Delhi and scheduling a drop box appointment in Chennai. However, you are having difficulty finding a way to update the DS-160 number in your profile on the appointments portal.

In such situations, it is generally recommended to follow these steps:

1. Contact the U.S. Consulate or Embassy where you have scheduled your appointment (in this case, Chennai) and inform them about the change in your DS-160 location and the new DS-160 number.

2. Inquire with the consulate if they can update your profile with the new DS-160 number or if there is a specific procedure you need to follow to update the information.

3. If the consulate is unable to assist you or provide clear guidance, you may need to cancel your existing appointment and create a new profile on the appointments portal using the new DS-160 number for the Chennai location.

4. After creating the new profile, you can proceed to schedule a new drop box appointment at the Chennai location, subject to availability.

It is essential to ensure that the information on your DS-160 form matches the location where you plan to attend your visa interview or submit your documents. Inconsistencies in this information could lead to complications or delays in processing your visa application.

If you continue to face difficulties updating your profile or have further questions, it is advisable to contact the U.S. Consulate in Chennai directly for the most accurate and up-to-date guidance on how to proceed with your visa application.
