Galion, OH asked in Criminal Law for Ohio

Q: Vague summary of Criminal Theft charge In “more info” please help. Need questions answered.

A man went through the courts to press theft charges against me that I knew were not true. I missed two court dates due to reasons that I was told would be excused if sent in a doctors note via Fax. I did exactly as told and still got hit with a bench warrant both times. Eventually the magistrate intimidated me with a plea agreement that I signed out of strictly just fear and worry since i had a prior theft case that was ruled guilty when I know for certain that i wasnt. I did diversion for 2 years and paid 377$ in fees and was banned from the gas station permanently.

I did not want to risk jail time over this mans false accusations especially while at that moment my mother needed me as her caretaker for she has late state dementia. The man never showed for the restitution hearing because he had no proof of anything being owed to him since the claim was that i stole upwards of 350-500$ value in pokemon cards from him. So now i am on probation for 2 years, 90 days of jail over my head
