Q: Can I sue loss prevention worker who detained my wife and I because she didn't scan a shampoo and conditioner? Arrested.
I had no idea she did not scan a shampoo and conditioner. I do not watch every item scanned when we shop. We were detained because of shampoo and a conditioner. I'm bald, have no use for either of these items. She told them I did not know. They called the police, and they arrested both of us. I was jailed, and had to post bond. This happened August 4th, 2023. Neither of us have ever been to court over this charge but I was still, I believe, wrongfully imprisoned. I would like to know my rights, as I believe this loss prevention worker was retaliating after one evening when my car door hit his truck, about 2 months before the incident I'm telling you now. I see him watch us all the time in this store, catch him peeking. I honestly stole nothing, but was arrested by local police anyway. I want to know what my rights are.
