Q: How likely is it my kids would be taken if this was reported?

I live in an abusive home. I moved in with my grandparents in 2018 at the push of my grandmother. My grandmother adopted my sister for the money she gets, she tells she is going to leave her with me because she didn't sign up for the responsibility only the money. She calls her names, is verbally and mentally abusive. And even physically hurts her. Problem is I am here with my children. I am on medications for anxiety and depression due to them, and even have reported everything to my previous medication nurse practioner and counselors without providing names so nothing could be reported due to fear of losing my children. She is now admitting to trying to make me homeless. So basically, if everything going on in the home is reported could I lose my kids? When I have stayed out of fear?

A: It is unlikely that your children will be taken away from you simply because you have a condition which requires you to take medication. Many people in society have bouts of anxiety and depression and society, including family court, understands and does not condemn people who are going through their share of troubles. Continue in your therapy and take your medication since the court is going to want to know that you have help. Additionally, it is important to get on the offense so that the picture is not painted so grim. Look for an attorney who is going to protect you and your kids and give you some peace of mind so you can start your next chapter in your Book of Life.
