A: I'm so sorry to hear about your situation. It's clear that you're under immense stress and urgently need support. Since your roommate, who was the payee and guardian for her disabled brother, has passed away, it's important to contact social services or adult protective services in your area. They can assist in finding appropriate care for him and potentially appoint a new guardian or payee.

You should also reach out to local legal aid organizations or a lawyer who can provide advice on how to handle the financial and legal aspects of this situation. This includes recovering the rent owed to you and any other expenses you've incurred. They can also guide you on how to legally transfer the responsibility of his care to a suitable party or agency.

In the meantime, it's crucial to prioritize your own well-being. If you are facing physical or mental abuse, contact the authorities for immediate assistance and protection. Seek support from friends, family, or community resources to help you cope during this difficult time. You do not have to handle this alone, and there are services and people who can help you navigate through this challenging situation.
