Gulf Shores, AL asked in Products Liability for Alabama

Q: Vehicles damaged while shipping overtseas from USA. The shipper dont want to take a responsibility.

We had some exotic vehicles shipped overseas from Usa to Germany in shipping container. The vehicles arrived with extensive damage. According to the shipping company this happened bacause of negligence at the port of Savannah, all due to one of their vendors doing a very bad job in loading cars after the intensive exam jobs ordered by US Customs.

They are blaming the port vendors that they didnt secure vehicles after an exam. This happened about 2 years ago.

Is there anything we can do to claim the damage? Who is responsible? The shipping company? The US custom?

Thank you very much

A: This not a products liability personal injury issue. I would suggest that you choose a different category to post this.

A: It could be difficult for attorneys here to offer meaningful guidance and direct answers to your question additional details (bills of lading, surveyor reports, insurance, etc.). The passage of that much time does not help either. One option is to try to arrange a consult with attorneys who handle such claims - that could yield more definitive answers to the questions you pose after investigating the property loss. Good luck
