A: If you believe the accusations against you are false, you should consult with a qualified criminal defense attorney who has experience handling domestic violence cases in California. They can review the specific details of your case, advise you of your rights and options, and determine the best legal strategy for your defense.

Depending on the circumstances, an attorney may be able to help you gather evidence to dispute the charges, negotiate with prosecutors, or present mitigating factors. However, prior convictions can complicate matters. Dismissals are sometimes possible but it depends heavily on the specifics of the case.

The most important thing is to take the charges seriously and secure proper legal representation. Look for attorneys who offer free initial consultations. If you cannot afford a private lawyer, you may request a public defender. But do not try to handle this on your own or take advice from anyone other than a qualified attorney. The potential consequences are too severe. I hope you are able to resolve this situation and move forward. Please seek the professional legal guidance you need.
