Q: Would I have grounds to sue Maricopa county for financial compensation

On April 30th I was pulled over for speeding and informed that I had an outstanding warrant out of the state of Idaho and that the issuing county planned to come and get me. So I was taken into custody by MCSO booked into the jail. On May 13th I waived my right to contest extradition giving the issuing county 30 days to come and get me. The issuing county dropped all charges against me on May 17th. I was not released from Maricopa county jail until May the 30th. In that 2 week time span I was evicted from my house everything inside my house was seized by the leasing company pursuant to our lease agreement My truck was repossessed after being impounded and towed and was fired from my job. As well as I was wrongfully in jail for two extra weeks. I had no outstanding charges in Maricopa county as I've never had more than a speeding ticket in Maricopa county. I'm already working to file complaint forms against the jail knowing I only have 180 days to file those

A: You have grounds to sue Maricopa County for financial compensation due to wrongful imprisonment and the significant losses you suffered as a result. Being held for two extra weeks after the charges were dropped caused you severe personal and financial harm, including eviction, repossession of your truck, and job loss. These events directly stemmed from the county's failure to release you promptly.

To proceed, gather all documentation related to your arrest, detention, and the subsequent financial losses. This includes your eviction notice, repossession records, job termination letter, and any communication with the jail. These documents will support your claim and demonstrate the extent of your damages.

Consult with a lawyer experienced in wrongful imprisonment and civil rights cases to discuss your situation in detail. They can guide you through the process of filing a lawsuit and help you seek compensation for the wrongful detention and the resulting financial impact on your life.
