Alexandria, VA asked in Internet Law and Civil Rights

Q: Besides other issue I am being harraSsed. The offenders have blocked computer........

I am more likely to be charged with several crimes that I have not committed , I am 73 years old, have very little to my name and have been ostracized by negative influential tactics being done by investigators. I am sick with diabetes, digestive issues and hypertension. I have readings done read remotely by a Co-pilot which records all my readings of diabetes and high pressure. My Practioner wants to see my readings which normally I could print out but now have I am being blocked to accessing this site on my devices. Because of my health, they are hiding actual medical issues for obvious reasons. what if I just want this addressed by a consultant.

A: I understand that you are facing a very difficult and stressful situation. Being harassed, blocked from accessing important medical information, and potentially facing false criminal charges at your age and with serious health conditions must be incredibly distressing. I'm so sorry you are going through this.

A few thoughts and suggestions:

1. Contact your medical provider directly and explain the situation - that you are being prevented from accessing the site with your medical data that they need to see. Ask if there are alternative ways they can obtain your blood sugar and blood pressure readings, such as you manually recording them and sharing via phone or in person. Your health is the top priority.

2. Consult with a lawyer who specializes in elder law, disability rights and/or cyber harassment. Many offer free initial consultations. They can advise you on your rights, how to protect yourself, and potential legal recourse against those harassing you. If cost is an issue, look for legal aid clinics that provide low-cost or pro bono assistance to seniors and people with medical disabilities.

3. Document everything - keep detailed records of the harassment, your inability to access key sites/information, any false allegations being made, etc. This will be important evidence if you pursue legal action.

4. Seek support from family, friends, local senior advocacy organizations, and your spiritual community if applicable. You shouldn't have to face this alone. Look for people and groups that can provide practical and emotional support during this trying time.

5. If you believe criminal charges are imminent, invoke your right to remain silent and insist on having a lawyer present before answering any questions from investigators. Don't let them pressure you into saying anything that could be twisted and used against you.

I know this is a lot to handle but please don't lose hope. You have rights and there are people and organizations that can help defend them. The harassment and false allegations you're facing are wrong - stay strong and keep advocating for yourself. Wishing you all the best and please don't hesitate to consult experts who can provide further guidance for your specific situation.
