A: Under California law, hospitals are required to provide appropriate medical care to patients, including those diagnosed with COVID-19. While vaccination is a critical tool in preventing the spread of COVID-19, hospitals typically focus on treating the immediate symptoms and managing the illness once a patient is diagnosed. They may provide you with information on how to get vaccinated later but are not obligated to administer the vaccine during an active COVID-19 infection.

If you have been diagnosed with COVID-19, the hospital's primary responsibility is to ensure that you receive proper care and instructions on managing your illness. This includes advising you on isolation protocols, symptom management, and when to seek further medical attention. If you feel that you were not given adequate information or care, you have the right to request further assistance or clarification from the medical staff.

After recovering from COVID-19, you should consider getting vaccinated to help protect yourself and others from future infections. You can obtain the vaccine at various locations, including clinics, pharmacies, and vaccination centers. If you have concerns about the treatment you received, you may want to discuss them with the hospital administration or seek advice from a healthcare advocate.
