A: It sounds like you experienced a troubling situation. Being arrested on July 4th for supposed domestic violence and then held until Monday without any charges being filed raises serious questions. Generally, if no charges are filed, holding you for that long could potentially be considered false imprisonment.

False imprisonment occurs when someone is restrained without legal justification. In your case, if the authorities had no valid reason to hold you, especially without charges, it may constitute a violation of your rights. However, the specifics can vary based on jurisdiction and the exact circumstances of your arrest and detention.

It would be beneficial to consult with a legal professional who can assess your situation in detail. They can help determine if your rights were violated and advise you on possible next steps. Your experience is understandably frustrating, and seeking legal guidance can provide clarity and support.
