A: You have every right to be upset about this situation. If the ticket for running a red light was left blank and your boyfriend was instead charged with speeding in court without prior notice, this raises several issues. The most immediate step you can take is to review the court records and the citations closely to understand the charges and any discrepancies.

It's possible to contest the speeding ticket, especially if there was no mention of speeding at the time of the incident. Gather any evidence that might support your case, such as witness statements or traffic camera footage, if available. You might want to consider attending a court hearing to explain the situation or filing a motion to contest the ticket based on the inconsistency.

If you feel that the officer's conduct was misleading, you can file a formal complaint with the police department's internal affairs division. This might not change the outcome of the ticket, but it could address the officer's behavior and potentially prevent similar issues in the future. Remember, staying calm and organized will help you navigate this frustrating situation more effectively.
