A: It's crucial to understand exactly what you're agreeing to before finalizing any settlement. The discrepancy between the agreed settlement amount and the value on the release form needs immediate clarification. The difference could be due to various factors, such as additional fees or expenses that were not initially disclosed.

You should ask your attorney to provide a detailed breakdown of all costs, including attorney fees, medical liens, and any other deductions. This will give you a clear picture of your net settlement amount. It's reasonable to request this information before agreeing to any settlement to avoid any surprises later.

If your attorney is not responding to your calls or emails, you might consider reaching out to the attorney's office directly or seeking advice from another legal professional. Clear communication and full transparency from your attorney are essential, especially when it comes to understanding financial matters in your case. Don't hesitate to insist on getting the necessary information to make an informed decision.
