A: Well, that is a bit of a simplification in terms of what a judge, or the state of Oklahoma, might be willing to do. When they arrest someone and place them in custody as they await criminal prosecution for a charge, absent some very special circumstances, they will usually remain in jail until they bond out or they dispose of their case by plea-bargain where they receive some type of probation and are immediately released.

Most counties also have alternative courts, which means, if there’s a drug or alcohol problem, they can enter a plea and enter that program. Although it does happen on occasion, they will generally not agree to simply let someone out of jail if a bond has been set for an alleged crime, so that they can enter a dog treatment facility.

Best the luck!
