A: It sounds like you're facing a challenging situation with a judgment that has been impacting your ability to move forward. Since it's been 10 years, the first step is to determine if the judgment is still active or if it has expired under Texas law. Typically, judgments in Texas are enforceable for 10 years but can be renewed, so it's important to check whether it has been refilled or renewed. You can do this by checking the court records in the county where the judgment was issued.

If the judgment is still active, you may want to explore options for negotiating a payment plan with the creditor. Sometimes, creditors are willing to settle for less than the full amount if you can pay a lump sum or demonstrate hardship. If this is not possible, you might consider seeking legal advice on your rights and any potential defenses you could raise.

Lastly, it’s crucial to address this issue promptly, as an unresolved judgment can continue to affect your credit and job prospects. You deserve a fresh start, and understanding your options is the first step towards resolving this matter.
