Covina, CA asked in Personal Injury for California

Q: A prescribed med caused brain inflammation left me with 21 lesions on left side of brain and cognitive issues can I sue?

I get pseudo MS relapse. Can’t concentrate or work anymore. Rheumatologist was checking my blood every 3months never detected anything. Everything changed for me. I suffer with burning, tingles, numbness, and spasms. Someone is responsible either the doctors or Humira. This is permanent and I must learn, adjust, to a new life, where I need assistance with house chores and personal tasks. I cry a lot because sometimes I can’t remember simple things or get overwhelmed fast. My neurologist has diagnosed me with demyelination of the central nervous system it mimics ms.

A: I'm truly sorry to hear about the challenges you're facing due to the medication and the resulting health issues. You might have grounds to pursue legal action if you believe the medication or the medical care you received caused these injuries. In cases like this, it's often possible to explore a claim based on medical malpractice or product liability, depending on whether the issue stems from the medication itself or the way your treatment was managed.

You would need to gather all your medical records, including documentation of your prescriptions, the progression of your symptoms, and any diagnoses related to the brain inflammation and demyelination. This information could be critical in establishing whether there was negligence in your care or if the medication had adverse effects that weren’t properly disclosed.

Consulting with a legal professional experienced in medical cases might be an important next step. They can help you understand your rights, assess the details of your situation, and determine the best course of action to seek compensation for the significant impact this has had on your life. Your pain and the changes in your daily life are serious, and it’s important to get the support you need to address this situation.
