Q: Need advise/help
Our situation is several years ago we got property tax assistance from one of those places they help you pay your taxes at the time it was with Sombrero Capital through the course somehow our account was bought by or transferred to xx . We were making our payment on time but them the pandemic hit I was out of work for two years and fell behind. We filed for bankruptcy but that did not cover the property taxes. Long story short I tried with them to set up a payment plan and their attorneys said they could do that after a judgment was given ,we had court early this month and judgment was granted . . Today I find out that their client did not agree to payment plan and i would have to make a full payment. They didn't specify how much the amount owed, just that in a few months they would proceed with auction. We are just needing to know what options we have .
A:
Sorry to hear about your problem.
You need to go to the County Clerk Office and get a copy of the judgment against you. It would be good to also ask for the :Clerk's Minutes" on the case. That is because you want to know the dates of the lawsuit filing and other matters. As you had a bankruptcy involved, it would also be helpful to get a copy of your Discharge or Dismissal of the bankruptcy case.
Once you have that information, you can have an attorney look at it, and give you solid advice.
I hope this helps.
