A: Amending a birth certificate in California to reflect your biological father's name can be a complex process, especially if the name currently listed is not accurate. Since your mother has passed away, and you've recently reconnected with your biological father through DNA testing, you'll likely need to gather as much evidence as possible, including the DNA results, to support your case.

You'll want to contact the California Department of Public Health – Vital Records to begin the process. They will likely require a court order to make the amendment, which may involve filing a petition to amend the birth certificate and presenting your DNA test results along with any other relevant documentation.

It's a good idea to consult with an attorney familiar with family law in California to ensure you follow the correct procedures and provide all necessary evidence. This can help you avoid delays and ensure the process moves forward smoothly.
