It sounds like you are dealing with a very challenging and distressing situation involving abuse, real estate issues, and ongoing threats from a former partner. It's understandable that you and your family feel scared and uncertain about what steps to take next. Even though the abuse hasn't been reported to the police yet, it may be important to consider doing so to ensure your safety and create a record of his actions.
Your safety and the safety of your family should be the priority. You might want to explore obtaining a restraining order or protective order against him to prevent further abuse or threats. This could provide some legal protection and peace of mind. Speaking with the lawyer handling your divorce about these concerns could also help in aligning your legal strategy with your need for safety and stability.
Regarding the real estate situation, it might be worth exploring if there are any legal options to expedite the buyout process or put conditions in place that prevent him from using his properties as leverage. Your lawyer could potentially advise on ways to protect your interests in this process. Support from local domestic violence organizations could provide additional resources, including safety planning, counseling, and legal assistance. You deserve to feel safe in your home and your life.
