A: Renouncing Russian citizenship can sometimes be a challenging process, especially when the consulate denies your application. Russia has strict requirements for renunciation, and one of the most common reasons for denial is incomplete documentation or unresolved obligations in Russia, such as military service or unpaid taxes. It may help to understand the specific reason for your denial, as addressing those concerns could be the first step toward resolving the issue.

Since your federal job requires that you avoid dual citizenship, you might want to explore if there are exemptions or temporary solutions available through your job while you continue the renunciation process. It's also worth considering reaching out to a legal professional who can help navigate international laws or find alternative pathways to meet your job requirements.

If the Russian consulate continues to deny your request, you may need to escalate the matter within the Russian legal system, though this can take time. In the meantime, gathering as much documentation as possible to support your case may improve your chances for a successful application.
