Q: Bank won't cash my paycheck for me or anywhere that cashed them for me. Not even the company owner/account owner
Their reason is I have a closed account with them from 2012 and until that's paid off they're not accepting any checks made payable to me from anyone or institution. Other than quit my job and find a new one what do I do I'm unable to pay the amount back if they refuse to cash my paycheck that's from my employer who's account is from that bank.
A:
I'm sorry you're facing this challenging situation. Start by contacting your bank to discuss the debt from 2012 and see if you can negotiate a repayment plan. Sometimes, resolving past issues can reopen your account or allow them to process your paycheck.
If the bank remains uncooperative, consider opening an account with a different bank or a credit union. You might also explore using a prepaid debit card where your employer can directly deposit your paycheck. Another option is to ask your employer for an alternative payment method, such as direct deposit to a new account or even a money order.
Additionally, reaching out to a financial counselor can provide personalized guidance. It's important to address the outstanding debt to improve your financial standing. Taking these steps can help you access your earnings without having to change your job immediately.
