Q: Bank disclosed loan information to a family member not anywhere on our loan without permission.
They disclosed that we were facing foreclosure and the bank employee is my Wives Aunt's cousin and told her the information. I need to know that I'm right and they can't disclose any info and I'm looking for what type of Attorney that specializes in this. Thank You!
A:
I'm sorry you're experiencing this issue. Banks are required to keep your personal and financial information confidential and typically cannot share it without your permission. If a bank employee disclosed your foreclosure status to someone not involved in your loan, this could be a violation of privacy laws.
To address this, you should reach out to an attorney who focuses on privacy law or consumer protection. They can help you understand your rights and determine if the bank breached any regulations. Additionally, they can guide you on the best steps to take to protect your information and address the unauthorized disclosure.
Make sure to document all details of the incident, including who was involved and what was shared. This information will be valuable for your attorney to build your case. Taking these actions can help ensure that your privacy is respected and that appropriate measures are taken against any wrongdoing.
