Q: What do I do to finalize my divorce. It's already filed in Williamson county
A:
It depends on whether your spouse has been served, has waived citation, has answered, or has agreed to the terms of a decree of divorce.
If your spouse has not been served, you will need to request issuance of citation and make arrangements to have your spouse served. Or, in the alternative, you can prepare a waiver of citation and provide a copy of your filed petition to your spouse and ask if he/she will sign it.
If your spouse has waived citation, the waiver may indicate that you can proceed with a default judgment, or it may indicate that your spouse wants to be heard if you do not reach an agreement.
If your spouse has answered and you haven't reached an agreement, you can set your case for trial.
If you and your spouse have reached an agreement, you can set your divorce for a prove up and submit your signed agreed decree to the judge for approval.
