Q: Was it legal for the impound to sell my car even though I had a court order from a judge saying to return my property?
My car was impounded when the person driving it was arrested. The car sat in the impound collecting storage fees as I was trying to come up with the money to get my car out. I was able to, though, get an order signed by a judge stating that ALL fees from the impounding of my car be waived and my property returned to me. I took the order to parking enforcement and they still did not waive the fee from the tow truck from my car being towed to the impound. They told me I needed to pay a tow truck to tow my car out of impound due to it not having brakes and needed to pay the towing fee still. My order said that ALL fees be waived and it was signed by a judge. They gave me one day to come up with the money and I was unable to come up with the towing fee but I had the money for the tow truck to tow it out. Due to this, they sold my car on me. Was that legal for them to do even though I had an order from a judge saying I needed to pay nothing? Do I have a case?
