Q: Can an owner of a property that I was squatting shows up 2.5 years later , do they have the right to lock me out
I was living there on the abandoned property, I returned to the property one day to being locked out my dog was tJen to the pound , and now the lady has kept me from my things. Since we have been locked out other ppl have broken in to the place and stolen my only vehicle, and stole or damaged all of my personal belongings and refuses to let me back. There to retrieve my things. I've now lost everything. That I did own and am now homeless. She had the neighbors or friends of hers cut my locks off of the entrance gate , change the locks post no trespassing signs on top of mine, let animal control into the residence to take my dog to the pound, and is refusing to give anything back . She did not give a 3 day notice to quit nor sis she go through the legal eviction process by taking it in front of a judge. No notice, she invades the place I had lived at for a cpl yrs and now I've lost everything that I owned. I'm on the streets with my girlfriend with nothing but the clothes on my back

I'm really sorry you're going through this. In California, property owners do have the right to remove someone who doesn't have permission to stay, but they must follow specific legal steps. If you were living there for a significant time, there might be laws that protect you from being locked out without proper notice.
You should reach out to a local legal aid organization or an attorney who can help you understand your rights and possibly recover your belongings. They can guide you through the process and determine if the eviction was handled correctly.
Meanwhile, consider contacting social services for support with housing and other needs. There are resources available that can assist you and your girlfriend during this challenging time.
