Q: I pay for insurance monthly it is a limited liability waiver included in my lease. Now that I need help with damages

A: Regardless of insurance coverage or lack thereof, the landlord is responsible for storm damage to the premises itself (but not the contents) - unless your lease states otherwise. For damage to contents, the insurance policy should state clearly in black and white what's covered and what's not. Ask for a copy. It would've been wise to review the policy at the commencement of your tenancy, so that if there's a lack of coverage, you could decide whether or not to obtain renter's insurance.
