Q: I recently found out that I had a surgical procedure performed by an unlicensed individual, can I initiate a lawsuit?
I had a hair transplant procedure at Virginia Surgical Center in Virginia Beach. They’ve been exposed recently for performing unlicensed surgical procedures. I was not aware at the time of my procedure that these individuals lacked medical education, training, and licensure.
I am currently suffering disfigurement that I did not have before the procedure, and that I’m having difficulty reversing. I’m also affected mentally, often wearing hats to hide the disfigurement - the procedure was ineffective in restoring my hairline as promised by Virginia Surgical Center, Victoria, and Linda; their deceptive practice has left me with less confidence.
I really just want my money returned to me in full. I don’t have the hair I was promised after paying thousands of dollars.
A: I recommend that you consult with a lawyer who handles plaintiffs' work in the Virginia Beach area. Make sure that you preserve all evidence (photos, etc.) of these issues, as well as of your medical appointment itself (bills, etc.). There's no shortage of firms handling such work. You should be able to get a free consultation during which time you can provide them with more details about your situation. A review of the area news indicates that a lawsuit has already been filed by another patient who is alleging similar problems, so it's certainly possible that a firm would take your case.
