A: This is a serious situation that requires immediate legal representation - you should contact a family law attorney right away to protect your parental rights during the CPS investigation. Keep detailed records of all interactions with CPS and document your daughter's history of behavioral issues and prior false reports.

While waiting to hear from CPS, gather documentation of your daughter's school disciplinary records, any counseling or mental health treatment you've sought for her, and evidence of your positive parenting including medical records, school involvement, and character references. Consider enrolling in parenting classes focused on positive discipline techniques, as this can demonstrate your commitment to appropriate discipline methods.

Focus on cooperating fully with the investigation while working through your attorney to advocate for your rights and request family reunification services. Ask your attorney about requesting a court-appointed counselor or mediator who can help address the underlying family dynamics and work toward solutions that keep your family safely together. Remember that your priority right now should be regaining custody through legal channels while also getting help to address your daughter's behavioral challenges in appropriate ways.
