Q: Do I have to pay someone back for a vehicle when they won’t tell me how much I owe?

Approximately 6 or 7 years ago, my then-boyfriend purchased a vehicle for me, but kept it in his name. He allowed me to continue to drive it after we broke up, and also paid for a couple of repairs, and the insurance for about a year when I could no longer pay it. Finally, in January of this year, he took the vehicle back. I can now purchase a vehicle on my own, and offered to buy the vehicle from him. He was supposed to give me the total in 4 days (agreed by text), which was yesterday. He still hasn’t given me a total, even though I requested it multiple times by text (I know he’s had time to respond, because I saw him on social media). I told him that if he didn’t tell me an amount, I was going to start looking for another vehicle. There was never any written agreement about paying him back. I am willing to pay him for it. but I have asked him (several times) how much I owe, and he has not responded. Am I required to pay it back if he requests it later on?
