Q: I am in tennessee. I was fired on the 28th of October due to not completing the police academy within a year of of being
Hired. I was hired by a police department in Sept. Of 2023. I first went to the police academy in January of 2024 and came back the first day due to injury. I was put on workers comp. For approximately 3 months. During that time we figured out I have degenerative disk disease. I returned to work and had no issues. They police department then had me go back on Sept. 29, 24. I then got injured again due to the amount of physical exercise at the paramilitary boot camp. On October 1 24. I was told to go to the Dr. For workers comp. I was released back to work by the Dr saying there is nothing they could do. So I was then put on an administrative leave until Oct 28 24. When I was officially fired by the city. In my separation notice it says that I didn't complete the academy on 2 occasions but doesn't say anything about my injuries. There are other academies in the state that are not as "physically extensive" but they didn't want to here about those. Is there anything I can do?
