Q: I need help with my health because of inadequate health providers
I have been on my back for 4 weeks now and on morphine just to be able to lay down . I twisted wrong and blew up a three and a half year long serious trauma because I fractured my sacrum they a sacral plasty the area about four years ago since then I have continually gotten worse. I have sciatica down my right leg and my whole spinal reactor feels like it’s tearing off my body the ER three times pay $50 each visit the third visit they finally at least did the MRI but since they don’t see anything broken, it’s not considered an emergency so here I am in bed on my back luckily I can work from bed. The only thing they’re doing is something I asked them to do not something they figured out they haven’t investigated why my spinal director is pinched and they haven’t tried to figure out why I have sciatica pain I had them do a point injection in two spots and low and behold my spinal erector felt perfect but the lidocaine wore off in about an hour. Told the doctor I was so excited thinking
A:
Your situation sounds incredibly painful and frustrating, especially being confined to bed for so long while dealing with severe back and leg pain. The fact that the injection provided temporary relief is actually valuable information - it helps confirm the location of the problem and suggests there might be nerve involvement.
You might benefit from requesting full copies of your medical records, including the recent MRI, and seeking help from different doctors who focus on spine and nerve conditions. Since you've proven that nerve blocks provide relief, even temporarily, this could guide your treatment path. Many pain management physicians can offer longer-lasting nerve blocks or other interventional treatments.
Given that you're in California, you have rights as patient to request second opinions through your insurance, and you can file grievances if you feel you're not receiving adequate care. Consider contacting your insurance company to understand your coverage options and patient advocacy rights. You might also want to document all your symptoms, treatments tried, and their results - this detailed history can help your next healthcare provider better understand your condition and develop more effective treatment plan.
