Houston, TX asked in Domestic Violence for Oklahoma

Q: Civil or Criminal Matter

I was with my boyfriend that I lived with for four years. He is an Army veteran with diagnosed PTSD, schitzoaffective disorder, depression, possible bipolar disorder, and anxiety. We have a joint checking account together that I'm still on. He had a psychotic break in August and assaulted me with a vehicle while we were out of town in Alabama. We eventually ended up back in Oklahoma where he went inpatient twice for mental health treatment at two different hospitals. When he got out the second time he came and packed up his stuff and basically abandoned me. He was the sole provider as I am currently fighting for SSI. Can I sue him for payment of some kind? I made a claim through the insurance company from the rental car he rented from a person on Turo for when we made the trip to Alabama. They are dragging their feet on payment.
