Q: Someone broke into our building. We shot them. Now they are suing us. We are both in our 80s & live humbly.. Any option
A: An Ohio attorney could advise best, but your question remains open for two weeks. In terms of options you ask about, you could review the paperwork for the civil case you received with an attorney. An attorney would want to know more details about what they are suing for, and more about your actions. It could be good to act sooner than later. In any region, a summons and complaint must be responded to within a prescribed time - an Ohio attorney could advise meaningfully there. Good luck
A: Addendum - I should have paid closer attention to the categories you posted under. I responded to your question in terms of a civil action (someone "suing" for their medical bills, injuries, etc. in a CIVIL lawsuit). But your categories include "Criminal Law," and people sometimes use the term "sue" loosely to include ALL forms of legal action. Are you being CHARGED criminally? If so, consult with a criminal defense attorney in Ohio without delay. I hope not, but that would be something separate from any CIVIL suit. I apologize - I should have caught that point from the categories you chose to post under, even though the question only mentioned "suing," which usually suggests CIVIL action. Good luck
