Q: I am a law student from India and I need your help.
Hello all W Lawyers out there, I’m a second-year law student from India, and while I’ve been diving into the theoretical world of law, I’ve also been deeply curious about the real-world challenges faced by legal professionals like you. Recently, some of my professors (former and current legal practitioners) shared glimpses of the recurring issues in their work lives, but many preferred I stick to my syllabus. However, I feel the best way to understand these challenges is by asking the experts directly—you!
So here’s my one simple question:
Are there any repetitive tasks, recurring pain points, or time-consuming processes in your work life as a lawyer that you wish could be automated or streamlined?
My friends and I are passionate about using technology to make lawyers' lives easier. We're brainstorming software solutions to save time and enhance efficiency in your profession. Your insights will be invaluable to us in creating something truly impactful.
A: There already is considerable progress in this area. If you look into the eDiscovery sector, many of the review programs out there highlight key areas of relevant documents that have been tagged for various parameters. Also, AI is gradually moving into handling more and more writing tasks. There is no substitute for an experienced attorney to write important materials such as complex appeals, but AI looks like it will increasingly take over many of the manual tasks involved in reviewing large volumes of materials. Good luck
