Columbus, OH asked in Criminal Law for Ohio

Q: I was given a citation for petty theft & have no priors. The crime happened in groveport ohio. What can I do?

I experienced a medical even during this incident as well. Two mild seizures. I’m under the care of Cleveland Clinic Neurologists. The citation states that I, according to the peace officer, deliberately skipped scanning items at self check out. I’m willing to do anti-theft classes and what not, but does it matter to judge that I have medical issues, especially when said medical issues happened during the incident. I have two doctors notes. One from my pcp and one from my neurologist. I have what might be considered focal seizures. I space out and feel out of it for some time after. Shouldn’t something like this matter. If I had proof even if I was to take the anti theft classes, shouldn’t my medical issues be taken into account if they affect the case?
