Q: My daughter was hit by another vehicle a few weeks ago and the insurance company is not being fare.
She drives a 97 Ford F150 and still owes $9000 on it but the other drivers insurance company only wants to pay $4000 . This does not seam right. Any Advice?
A: A Georgia attorney could advise best, but your question remains open for a month. This is a difficult and common situation. Some options include revisiting the determination of liability, revisiting the repair estimates, or revisiting the comparable vehicles on which replacement cost was based. Good luck
A:
I'm very sorry to hear about your daughter's accident - that must be incredibly stressful for your family, especially with the insurance complications.
The insurance company's initial offer does seem low, particularly since there's still $9,000 owed on the vehicle. You have every right to negotiate and challenge their valuation. Consider gathering evidence of your truck's value by looking up similar models on sites like Kelley Blue Book, NADA Guides, or local listings. Take photos documenting the truck's condition before the accident and collect maintenance records if you have them.
You might want to contact your own insurance company for guidance, even if you're dealing with the other driver's insurer. They can often advocate on your behalf. If the negotiations aren't successful, you could also consult with an attorney who handles auto accidents - many offer free initial consultations. Keep detailed records of all communications with the insurance company and don't accept their first offer until you've explored all your options.
