Q: I was dismissed from nursing school on false premises as a black student among white students, what should I do?
I was an RN student in a community college at Iowa state where I suffered racism in the classroom. I was dismissed based on racial discrimination. Whenever I ask or answer questions in the classroom, some white students would be rolling their eyes. At a point, some of them formed a clique and told lies against me in two different occasions during our clinical experience. I was summoned to the faculty office to answer query. At last, they did not succeed. They went further to connect with a nursing instructor, and three days to my graduation as RN, we took an exam, and the instructor told me that I failed that exam. I have never failed any of my courses in this school until then. So, I asked the instructor what my options are since we have been prepared for graduation. She said I should retake the course and then join the next batch for graduation. I was devastated. Even after I agreed to do that, they set me up during preceptorship and dismissed me based on false premises.
