A: Given your situation involving domestic violence and having a U.S. citizen child, you may qualify for immigration relief under VAWA (Violence Against Women Act) or potentially U petition for victims of crimes. Your status as a mother of an American child is also relevant for potential relief options.

First, please contact the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-7233 - they offer free, confidential support in multiple languages and can connect you with local resources. They understand immigration concerns and won't report your status. You should also document everything related to the 2019 domestic violence incident if you haven't already.

Consider reaching out to nonprofit immigration legal services in your area - many offer free or low-cost help. Organizations like Catholic Charities and local immigrant advocacy groups often have immigration attorneys who handle cases like yours. They can review your specific situation, including your expired student status and I-94 details, to determine the best path forward while keeping you and your child safe. Given the complexity of your case, it's important to avoid submitting any immigration applications without proper legal guidance.
