Q: My options in dealing with a basement contractor not keeping his contract and not responding to calls.
I have contracted for my basement finishing project with a licensed contractor in PA. The contract listed out the scope of work, details of materials to be used, payment and schedule and duration along with other standard terms and conditions. Original estimated duration the contractor mentioned as 4-6 weeks. However, this is the 7th month of him starting the work and we are only done approx 60% of the original work. I emailed and USPS mailed him my concerns 2 times highlighting negligence, lack of communication and delays but he did not reply. Per contract, I have given him 10 days of notice by USPS and email to resolve the concerns, but he did not answer as well. I already paid him large sum and if I go with any other contractor, I will endup paying lot more than I planned originally. What are my options to deal with this situation in PA?
